2020 Calendar

It’s that time of year again!! We are taking photo submissions for our 2020 calendar!

Our annual Best Friends Calendar is used to raise much needed funds for our fur-friends at Kingston Humane Society.

These beautiful full colour calendars are staples in homes and businesses throughout our community and surrounding area. We love to show off our alumni. Submit your photo with a $40 payment by August 19th, 2019 to see your best friend highlighted on one of the months. If you have any questions on how to get your photo added to the 2020 calendar contact us at [email protected] or 613-546-1291 Ext 106.

Some hints to take the best possible photo of your furry friend are:

1-Make sure your photo is taken in an evenly lit area where there are no harsh shadows in the background.
2-Outdoor photos have the best lighting.
3-Make sure there is nothing in the background to clutter your photo and take the focus away from your fur-baby.
4-Check to be sure your photo isn’t blurry, zoom in on the nose and eyes if at all possible.
5-Make sure your submission is .jpg or .tif files
6- Make sure the photo is high resolution (300DPI preferred) and please do not add filters to your photos.

If you are a local business that is interested in advertising in our calendar please send us an email at [email protected]

It’s always sad when an animal’s owner passes away and the animal is left on its own. That’s what happened to Ruckus. This sweet senior dog came to us in May as a stray, but we later found out that his owner had died, leaving Ruckus by himself. Ruckus was a gentle soul who loved attention. He quickly became the front office mascot and liked to greet people when they came into the shelter. Although about 10 years old, his gray muzzle was the only thing that gave a hint of his age. He loved to play and cuddle. Sadly, though, his age worked against him, as many people are not looking to adopt an older animal.

KHS Summer 2015 Newsletter

On March 3rd, 2015, our OSPCA agent seized a cat who had been left without food or water in an apartment building. She was immediately assessed by our veterinary care staff. Her skin was scaly, her fur was coarse, her nose was swollen, and it was observed that her right eye was injured. Now affectionately known as Kate, this sweet girl seemed to have a number of medical conditions. After consultation with several veterinarians, it was determined that her eye injury was a result of some sort of trauma. We don’t know Kate’s story, but it was clear that she needed a new home and a second chance in life.
